Textia, winner startup of the 5th edition of the Entrepreneurs and Road Safety Award of the Línea Directa Foundation

The jury chose Textia Innovative Solutions for the high degree of innovation of its project and for offering a real solution to improve children’s road safety, introducing CRS in sectors not currently attended.

The Línea Directa Foundation has already chosen the winner startup of the 5th edition of the Entrepreneurs and Road Safety Award, which, under the slogan “Because entrepreneurship saves lives”, recognizes private initiatives designed to reduce traffic accidents and road mortality, as well as to improve the immediate treatment of victims after an accident.

The five finalist startups had to defend their project in an “elevator pitch” in front of a jury made up of ten professionals from companies, the entrepreneurial ecosystem and public administration.

The winner was Textia Innovative Solutions, the start-up created by TECNALIA and accelerated by TECNALIA Ventures, which presents a Child Restraint System (CRS), manufactured with the innovative “Varstiff” technology. It is a “child seat” for all stages of the child, easily foldable and portable. Its introduction in currently unattended sectors, such as taxis, VTC or carsharing, will improve the safety of children.

The jury has chosen this project as the winner for its economic viability, its high degree of innovation and for offering a real solution to improve children’s road safety. In this sense, according to data from the DGT, traffic accidents are the main cause of death among children under 14 and 40% of the children who die do not use any Child Restraint System.

Textia Innovative Solutions will receive a prize of 20,000€ net as a capital endowment which, this year, as a novelty, will be without dragging or co-investment. In addition, Textia will have the opportunity to receive training and mentoring for the empowerment and development of skills for the success of the project. At a later stage, it will be able to access the Bankinter Foundation for Innovation and IESE Business School’s entrepreneurial environment, which will assess access to investment rounds through a personalized study that includes an exhaustive analysis of the project, a meeting with the team of professionals behind it and constructive feedback on the initiative.
